Companies often find the only reason they make their product the way they do or deliver their service the way they do is – that’s the way it’s always been done.
Sometimes, that’s a good thing. The reasons why a certain thing is done a certain way – still make sense.
Sometimes, it’s not. The reasons why no longer make sense – having changed in some important way or disappeared altogether.
Customized calendars used to be a fantastic, affordable promotional item for service businesses to give away to clients and prospects.
It kept their company contact information conveniently, right in front of customers and prospects every day, all day.
Then, something changed.
Now, when I get calendars in the mail – I toss them in the trash. My guess is I’m not alone.
The reasons supporting that promotional item have all but vanished – replaced by incredibly fast, powerful, use friendly calendars – able to be instantly accessed anytime, anywhere and on any mobile device.
The usefulness of physical, paper calendars evaporated; replaced by something better.
The same thing can happen in commercial janitorial businesses and residential house cleaning services.
The WHY that once supported a company’s marketing and operational strategies can change or even disappear.
It’s not necessarily a good or bad thing; it’s just change. However, whether it’s treated as a threat or an opportunity often determines if the company will suffer or benefit from the change.
Cleaning business owners willing to revisit their own procedures, policies, systems and rules to see what needs to be changed, updated or removed – can create a competitive advantage over those who don’t.
Be one of those who do.
